“Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed. Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.” (Hebrews 12:12–14)
Life calls for struggle, endurance, and hard work. We are called to be active participants: to be soldiers, athletes, farmers, workers in every field. All should toil to achieve peace, the prize, a good crop, or whatever product or service we need. No one should live expecting rich rewards without struggle. We have to work to get to be good, and get better by working even harder and smarter.
“If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven played music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.”
– Martin Luther King, Jr.
Prayer
Lord, I thank you for creating me and giving me all my abilities, and opportunities. Grant that in whatever I do, whether in word or deed, it will all be to your Glory, through Jesus Christ who strengthens me. AMEN
