BLESSED ASSURANCE

A terminally ill parishioner turned to his pastor, as he was preparing to leave the vestry and said, “Pastor, I am afraid to die. Tell me what lies on the other side.”

The pastor hesitated for a moment, and the parishioner continued, “So, even you a pastor do not know what is on the other side?”

The pastor who had been holding the handle of the door opened it and a dog sprang into the room, leaping on him with an eager show of gladness.

Turning to the parishioner, the pastor said, “Did you see that? My dog has never been in this room before. He didn’t know what was inside. He knew nothing except that his master was here, and when the door opened, he sprang in without fear. I know little of what is on the other side of death, but I do know one thing…I know my Master is there and that is enough.”

Prayer:
Lord, I do not know about tomorrow, but I trust you. Hold my hand as I go through every circumstance in this world. Help me live strong and comforted by faith of the good plans you have for me, because I am your creation, and you love me. Amen.
