BUILDING SAND CASTLES

” One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. ” Psalm 145:4 E.S.V

Life is like building a sand castle by the sea shore. You put your heart and soul into the construction, but no matter how high and beautiful you make it, the strength of the ocean is too strong for the castle to stand against. The sea level rises during the high tide and the castle is obliterated.

The tide can be compared to death. No human being can stand against it. We are here today, and tomorrow we are gone.

But while we will all eventually leave this world, a little part of us is left: a legacy. The greatest legacy anybody can have is to recognize the world’s needs and respond with compassion and action, and giving. That way you remain alive through sweet memories in people’s hearts like beautiful sea shells which were once part of the sand castle that are sometimes revealed as the tide goes out again.

Then they will will say of you:

“The tide recedes, but leaves behind bright seashells on the sand. The sun goes down, but gentle warmth still lingers on the land. The music stops, yet echoes on in sweet, soulful refrains. For every joy that passes, something beautiful remains”
