A New Easter Message

A New Easter Message

By Miriam Kinai

This New Easter Message is based on the events surrounding the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ as chronicled in the gospel of Matthew.

After Jesus died and was buried in the tomb, the chief priests and Pharisees met with Pilate and said to him, “Sir, we remember, while He was still alive, that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise.’ Therefore command that the tomb be made secure until the third day, so that His disciples do not come at night, steal His body and tell the people, ‘He has risen from the dead.’ So the last deception will be worse than the first.”

So Pilate gave them permission to make the tomb secure and they did so by sealing the stone and setting a guard outside it. (Matthew 27:62-65)

BUT

When His resurrection day came, there was a great earthquake for an angel of the Lord had descended from heaven, rolled back the stone from the door and sat on it. As a result, the guards shook with fear and became like dead men. (Matthew 28:2-4)

Therefore, the New Easter Message is:

When the time that God has set for your breakthrough comes, you will break through your problems. When the three days that Jesus had said had passed, and the time for Him to leave the tomb arrived, He left the tomb despite it being sealed and guarded. Therefore, it does not matter if the people trying to seal your horrible fate in stone are as powerful as Pilate and the Pharisees or as religious as the chief priests or as armed as the guards. What matters is that when your God-set time for a breakthrough comes, no one and nothing can hinder the purposes of God because it is He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens. (Revelations 3:7)
It does not matter what measures have been taken to destroy your life, health, finances, marriage, ministry or career because when the God-set time for restoration comes, all will be restored. The chief priests and Pharisees spent time scheming and plotting to kill Jesus and now that He was dead they wanted to seal Him in the tomb permanently. They also spent money “sealing stone” and possibly paying for the guards. However, all this effort came to naught when His Resurrection Day arrived.
Therefore, even if your enemies have spent millions to destroy you life, health, finances, marriage, ministry, business or career, do not despair. Even if you can hear them sealing your horrible fate in stone with false accusations, fictitious statements and doctored reports as they set monitors to ensure that you never get out of your tombstone situation, do not despair. Let your carry home message from this Easter sermon be that the God of the crucifixion on Good Friday is also the God of the resurrection on Easter Sunday and He will get you out just as He got Jesus out of the tomb and Joseph out of jail.
God Himself will help you if you are helpless. The dead body of Jesus could not physically roll away the huge stone which had been sealed from the outside of the cave’s mouth. Most of his friends were too scared to venture near the tomb and those who ventured were physically too weak to roll the stone away and overpower the guards. But, this did not stop Jesus from leaving the tombstone when His God-set time to leave arrived. Therefore, know without a shadow of doubt that when the time that God has determined for your deliverance arrives, it does not matter if you and all your family and friends are too weak physically or financially to get you out of your tomb situation because God himself can get you out. He can cause earthquakes to destroy the obstacles or send angels to roll away impediments or to kill 185,000 of your enemies in one night (2 Kings 19:35) or cause your enemies to destroy each other (2 Chronicles 20:23) or cause Pharaoh dream a dream like the one that got Joseph out of jail or use any other method.

Therefore let this New Easter Message encourage you by telling you that even if your enemies have done all that is humanly possible to ensure that you will never succeed, as you lie in your tomb just ask yourself this one question, “Has the Lord’s arm been shortened?” (Numbers 11:23)

And the answer is, “The Lord’s hand is not shortened that it cannot save.” (Isaiah 59:1)
